Terms of use

What this website does, what it does not do, and who your installation contract is actually with.

Who these terms are with

This website is operated by Progressive Website Development Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 07714132, registered office 58 Greenbank Drive, Chesterfield, England, S40 4BX. Using this site means accepting these terms.

What this website does

We publish information about heat exchanger repair, and we arrange for a qualified service company to assess, quote for and carry out the work.

We are not an engineering contractor and we do not carry out repairs ourselves. Any contract for the work is between you and the service company, not between you and us. Their terms, their insurance and their quality assurance apply to that work.

Technical information here is general, not engineering advice

This site describes how heat exchanger repair, inspection, testing and cleaning are generally carried out. It is written to be useful and it is written carefully, but it is general information about a class of equipment. It is not advice about your unit.

Every exchanger has its own design conditions, materials, history and duty, and decisions about repair methods, test pressures, plugging limits and inspection intervals have to be made against those rather than against anything published here. Where this site describes a practice, it is describing what is generally done, not instructing you to do it.

Nothing here changes who is responsible for a pressure system. Duties under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 sit with the user or owner of the system, and a written scheme of examination and the judgement of a competent person are what govern examination and repair. Nothing on this site substitutes for either.

The same applies to any other regime that may cover your equipment, including water hygiene and food safety requirements. Those obligations remain yours.

Quotes and prices

Nothing on this site is a quotation or an offer to contract. Heat exchanger repair cannot be priced accurately before the unit has been assessed, and this site deliberately publishes no prices, no turnaround times and no response times for that reason.

Any quotation is given by the service company after they have assessed the unit, and the terms of that quotation are theirs.

Accuracy of the information here

We take care to be accurate, and where this site states a fact about industry, regulation or practice we check it and record when it was checked.

Industry moves, and regulation and standards are revised. Always check current guidance and the current status of any regulation before relying on it, and take the service company's advice on anything specific to your plant.

Photography on this site

The images on this site are illustrative. They are not photographs of work carried out by us or by any company we introduce you to, they are not photographs of any customer's plant or of any named site, and no pair of them is a before and after.

They are there to show a type of equipment or a setting. Nothing about the condition, standard or outcome of any work should be inferred from them.

Links to other websites

Where we link to another organisation, including manufacturers, regulators and industry bodies, we do so because the information there is useful. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content.

Our liability

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here affects any rights you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Beyond that, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published here, and we are not liable for the workmanship of a service company, which is a matter between you and them under their contract with you.

This site is aimed at businesses. Where you deal with us as a business, liability for business losses, including loss of production, loss of profit and loss of contract, is excluded to the extent the law allows.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
