Fischer heat exchanger repair covers gasketed plate units on industrial and building services duties. On a badge that appears less often than the largest names, the first practical question is parts: which plate model the pack uses, and whether gaskets for it are still obtainable.
- Gasketed plate and frame units
- Industrial and building services duties
- Older plant where the plate model matters more than the badge
What can be arranged for Fischer units
- Identifying the plate model from the nameplate and the pack itself
- Strip, clean and inspect every plate
- Regasketing as a set, subject to gasket availability for the model
- Rebuild to dimension and independent pressure test
Fischer heat exchanger questions
Are gaskets still available for this unit?
That is established from the plate model before the pack is opened, because availability decides turnaround and occasionally decides whether the unit is worth keeping. A photograph of the nameplate is usually enough to start.
What if the plate model cannot be identified from the plate?
The plates themselves carry identifying features, and a stripped pack can be measured. It is slower than reading a nameplate, which is why the plate is worth photographing before anything is disturbed.
Is a rebuilt unit as good as it was?
For most duties, a pack with sound plates, a new gasket set and a current pressure test is fit for its design conditions. Rebuilding does not change the design, so a unit that was undersized stays undersized.
